Back to reality

This back to reality thing after market is HARD!  After a little bout of Market flu ( seriously could not move for two days), I had to get back into a routine that was somehow very easily pushed out of my brain by all the fabulous I had experienced in KC.  I need to figure out how to start a quilting commune ;o)  I wonder if Bernina would sponsor one,LOL!

So y'all know I was not a complete slacker, here is what I did on the plane.  This was HUGE for me since I do not hand sew. I have to admit that it was fun and the guy sitting next to me was telling me about how his mother would make his clothing growing up.  Sewing is a common thread most people can relate to, one of the many things to love about it!!!!

When I returned home I had this AMAZING parcel waiting at my doorstep!!!!! I had won a giveaway from Sago On Tuesdays. It is a beautiful hand bound leather notebook and a couple of smaller notebooks...all STUNNING!!!!!  I am one LUCKY girl!!!!! Sonya's work is breathtaking. Go check out her blog and her shop!!!!!

I finally received my Flea Market Fancy!!!!!! I have plans for this that  *fingers crossed* will work out. One can never tell for certain with plans, they seem to always change at the last minute ;o)

This magazine...YES! I read it from cover to cover on the plane ride from KC to ATL!!!!! I am ready for the next issue!!!! Great job and congratulations on a wonderful magazine Generation Q!!!!!!  And Scott Hansen wears the best shirts I have ever seen!!!!!!

Now back to choosing fabrics for my bag for PURSE PALOOZA 2012.  It starts next Friday and I am so excited!!!!

I *think* these are my choices but we shall see...

Time to get back to reality and do some dishes before I start sewing again!!!!!

I think this is really it!!!!!

The last day of market ( which was Sat for me) was just as exciting as the first. I think I may have slept seven  hours the entire weekend.  I am feeling it now ;o)

This is one of the most exciting things that happened to me while there.

Lovely...just lovely!!!!!!! I could have moved into this booth and not even needed internet, cable or possibly food...ever! But someone would have had to bring me my Bernina and some Aurifil of course ;o)

EEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!! Amy Butler has her hands on the Pineapple Princess quilt and she really liked it.  She is so lovely and wonderful. It was great to meet her.  Thank you Amy for taking the time to look at my quilt!!! It is safely home with me and I need to bind it and take final photos :o)

*this photo is from Sara's blog since in mine my eyes are closed since I may have blacked out a bit*

Sara taking photos of the first dress I am going to make!!!!!

And meeting this firecracker Kay Whitt of Serendipity Studio was so much FUN!  All of that charisma and creativity in a fun loving girl from Texas!!!!  I love this lady!!!!!

You cannot walk anywhere here and not run into a fantastic idea or a fabulous person...it is IMPOSSIBLE!

I was on my way to meet up with Sara and I found my nirvana...LIBERTY fabrics...( can you hear the angels singing)!!!!! I fondled some fabric and promised I would return and the gang there was so nice!!!! I am sure they are used to this reaction to all of that loveliness.

When we returned, I was invited to sit down in one of the chairs covered in Liberty fabric ( it somehow seemed a bit naughty but I went along with it) and was speaking to the most wonderful lady. She handed me a box...of LIBERTY swatches...TEARS came to my eyes and I think I may have blacked out for a minute or two because I cannot remember much after that. Is Liberty of London  fabrics THAT good...YES!

Kirstie ( the really nice lady that put up with my moment of weakness) was kind enough to take a photo with me and it is blurry but that is because I am probably still a bit woozy ;o)

This is the box with the fabric! It was in my purse ON the plane for fear of it's safety on the flight home! the new line is called Bloomsbury Gardens . TO LIVE FOR!!!!!

Oliver+s had a very cute booth and I had to get some shots of the really fun projects they had displayed

This is Adam's favorite!

I went back to the Laurie Tigner Design booth ( I was working for her) and who should show up...
Mr. Aurifil! He was out visiting all the booths and saying hello :o)  I am starting to think Alex has a twin ...he is EVERYWHERE!!!!

Right next to our booth was Like Sew, a great group of guys (geeks which in my book means godlike since html is a four letter word to me) that also host the FreeQuiltPatterns.info site. Great group and it was great to meet them!!!!

Here they are with Laurie shoot some footage of how she LOVES them!!!!! Who does not adore a guy that can confidently wear pink and write code ;o) Oohlala!

Art Gallery...oh BABY!!!!!! Soft and lovely and yummy and the most ENERGETIC and FABULOUS group of people! This is the fabric company you want to go to a PARTY with!!!!!

Pat Bravo's Summerlove is one that will be living in my sewing room as soon as I can get my hands on it!!!!

I had to fly to Kansas City to meet this talented lady even though I only live one hour from her...

Pat Sloan in her really cool dress in front of her new fabric line Eat Your Fruits and Veggies!!!

Next to Pat Sloan was another person that was on my list to meet ( Amy Lou Who said I had to hug her) Vanessa Christenson of V&Co. I was so happy when I saw her and warned her I was going to give her a hug from Amy and she said okay, then I told her my name was Kim and she looked at my tag and said..."OH! you are THAT Kim!" Not sure if that was good or bad she hugged me again and I was super happy her ninjas did not jump me!!!! Yes, she had her own set of personal ninjas and they were in some of my photos  although I cannot show them( ninjas cannot ever reveal their true identity).

Amy, I REALLY hugged her but Sara has the photo and I will post it as soon as I get it from her!!!!!

I found someone that was not quilting but KNITTING at market...I thought that was so cool and well, she was doing a great job!

I saw her again at the KCMQG!!!! And she gave me a prize ( see that Robert Kauffman fabric ;o), she gave that to me!!!) !!!!

I was searching all over for her and she is NOT Sewing Athena ( I googled it every way possible)  but Spinning Athena multi talented and very nice :o)

So with blistered and bandaged toes...

and a head full of ideas, I sadly said goodbye to Kansas City and all the wonderful people I met there.

Thank you Kansas City, International Quilt Market, designers, bloggers and everyone else! It was fun!!!!

This may be the last one...I think...maybe...

I had no idea how many photos I took, man oh man, this is crazy! On to the other fabulousness of market. I am starting to feel like one of those slideshow people and the Grand Canyon ;o) I will make popcorn and that will make it all better!

This is so funny, I was sitting with Jeni and she said, " Oh, there is Jana!" I have been online friends with Jana for awhile and she is someone I REALLY wanted to meet in real life and there she was on the phone talking to her kids, saying things like, " No, models aren not as pretty with their make-up off."

When she got off the phone she was so funny! It was something along the line of "KIM NEWAISUBAJAKCSBAMCBDCGD"  If you know my last name this is a pretty fair and accurate description:o)

Jana is AWESOME and Amy this hug was from you too!!!!!

Jana's Izzy & Ivy booth was so cute!!!!!

One of my favorite booths was this one filled with retro goodness. Melody Miller is DA BOMB! I loved everything in her booth!!!!

And I had the pleasure of meeting she and Mr. Melody Miller ( seriously, that is what was on his name tag) later at the KCMQG meetup. What a pleasure that was. Especially when I found out they are from my old stomping grounds.

I was going to post about this later but I opened the door to the Kansas City Modern Quilting Guild and so I need to say... WOW!!!!! They put together an amazing meeting and invited everyone to come on in, win a prize, have a drink and socialize. Their kindness and hospitality was most appreciated and I thank them for being so lovely!!!! You guys make me want to MOVE to Kansas City!!!!!

The gift table...faint!

While there, I had the thrill of meeting Thomas Knauer( the male equivalent of gogokim) and Elizabeth Hartman . Everyone notice I am wearing a color other than black please!!!!!

And I could not pass up the opportunity to grab a photo with this crew :o)

And this girl is so hard to track down for a photo!!!!! Adrieanne ( little bluebell) and the word sweet does not even begin to describe her!!!!

Well, as it turns out  there is to be one more post because I have kids to run around and there is a couple more things I HAVE to show you!!!!

All work and no play

Makes Jack a dull boy....EEEEEEK! I would never want for that to happen to me so I made sure to make time for the social events happening after they kicked us all out of the market area. Amy (Sukie) organized a great little get together and sent out evites, they were for until 5am the following morning but thank GOODNESS that did not happen, although I did hear of some line dancing I missed out on ;o)

This was the Friday night and OH what fun!!!!

Me, Amy(Diary of a Quilter) and Amy (Sukie)

Everyone mentioned above with two hot Italians added in, Alex ( Aurifil) and Dario ( Aurifil) and that is my camera next to Dario which is why I had to steal this photo from Sara's blog ;o)
Sukie's pixel Hello Kitty quilt needed some adult beverage after the first day of Market

Sara

Jeni

Two Amy's and an Erin :o) These are some FUN girls!

Bianca ( Sweet Diesel Designs), John Q. Adams ( Quilt Dad),  I was John's secret swap partner and had the pleasure of bringing his swap to market to really surprise him :o) The person sitting next to John I did not have a chance to meet :o(  It was really crowded in the bar!!!!

I somehow missed photos with the gang from Pellon. They are hysterical and the prettiest group of business people I have ever seen. Must be some sort of prerequisite to work there :o) Had some amazing fun that night....Thanks everyone!!!!!!
